Your doctors are already talking about it, they want to extend their practice (and their possible patient pool and reimbursements) with Telemedicine. How can you implement a program that allows your doctors to do what they want, while still protecting the organization and sensitive ePHI under HIPAA standards?
CMS has recognized the benefits of telemedicine by adopting reimbursement rules for a variety of telemedicine services. Effective January 1, 2015, CMS began reimbursing several types of services including: annual wellness visits, psychoanalysis, family psychotherapy, and prolonged E&M services provided via telemedicine.
Compliance with (HIPAA) means that not only the telemedicine platform need to be compliant, all providers, patients, and staff using the platform also need to ensure they are in compliance with HIPAA.
