Improving Care, Outcomes & Efficiency Through the Use of Aud Techs

Patient access to quality audiological care is being negatively impacted by factors ranging from small numbers of students completing AuD programs to inefficient use of existing audiology resources. A major challenge faced by today’s ENT practices is the scheduling flow for ancillary medical professionals. Diagnostic audiology and aural rehabilitative appointments have decreased in length due to limited clinical resources. As reimbursements decline, costs increase, and patient demand rises, patient triage by Audiology Technicians increases the practice’s cost effectiveness of patient care. Integration of a properly trained and licensed Aud Tech alleviates the need for the audiologist to participate in the more mundane clinical testing, thereby freeing them to focus on higher-level diagnostic and rehabilitative care.

Objectives:
Explain the benefits of utilizing Aud Techs within a practice.
Analyze the need of adding an Aud Tech position to a practice.
Illustrate the positive financial aspects of Aud Tech integration.
Explain the enhanced patient care from Aud Tech utilization.
Create a structured plan for implementation.
Describe the scope of practice of an Aud Tech.
Plan an employee recruitment strategy to select the most qualified candidates.
Integrate an Aud Tech into an existing practice workflow.
