The Association of Otolaryngology Administrators Is Now the Administrator Support Community for ENT
The Association of Otolaryngology Administrators (AOA) announces its name change to ASCENT - the Administrator Support Community for Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT). The new name ASCENT positions the organization to better distinguish itself within otolaryngology and the healthcare industry.
ASCENT provides resources, continuing education and networking for ENT practice management professionals. Building on its rich 37-year AOA history, ASCENT will continue to serve its 1,000-member association with these valuable benefits.
Through the years, it became evident that the abbreviation "AOA" had gotten lost in the alphabet soup of related medical association names. This has prompted ASCENT (formerly AOA) to develop a new name and brand that would provide better recognition and differentiation within otolaryngology. Through research and an external branding expert, leadership helped shape this new direction to become the Administrator Support Community for ENT.
ASCENT is respectful of its rich AOA roots and will continue with a strong A-focused logo and modernized green. We aren’t changing what we do; we’re simply adapting to stay current and keep up with the needs of our members. We look forward to building on our 37-year history to continue to be known as the go-to organization for the business of ENT medicine.
ASCENT President Tricia Long, COPM, is excited for the association’s new direction. “For nearly four decades, ASCENT has flourished by increasing our membership, education, resource and networking offerings,” she said. “By building on our past, we will further differentiate ASCENT so we can continue to be known as the go-to organization for the business of ENT medicine.”
“I congratulate ASCENT, the former AOA, for its new branding initiative, which will continue to increase their visibility and promote their value within the specialty. The Academy looks forward to our ongoing relationship with ASCENT as we work together in the future on practice management-related initiatives and how they coordinate with our focused efforts on patient care,” said James C. Denneny, III, MD, Executive Vice President/CEO of the American Academy of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery (AAO-HNS). The AAO-HNS is the leading otolaryngology physician organization in the United States.
