A medical facility is a place for people to get care. All too often, things disturb the smooth flow of healthcare to patients. Delays happen due to appointment scheduling that is out of sync with the flow of the staff and doctors, doctors getting pulled off track performing non doctor tasks, and information not being readily available. In today's environment of increased demand, increasing cost and reimbursement not keeping pace, it is more important than ever to have efficient flow systems to maximize the doctors` time and eliminate the delays in providing care.

Our speaker, Larry Brooks, AIA, is an architect and president of Practice Flow Solutions and widely known as an expert in improving the flow patterns of medical practices. Larry’s 26+ year career has specialized in helping private practices and institutions improve the flow and delivery of their healthcare services. The expertise Larry has developed during his focused career has allowed him to help thousands of doctors increase the number of patients they see and calm flow patterns of their practices to improve the quality of work life for the doctors and staff, all while improving the experience for the patient.

Educational objectives:

• Identify obstacles impeding the patient flow of your office.
Use specific measurement tools to determine the magnitude of the flow problem.
Implement changes to solve the practice's current practice flow problems.
Identify lost productivity and how to recapture it.

Larry Brooks, AIA

Larry Brooks attended college at Southern Polytechnic State University in Marietta, Georgia. After graduation in 1990, he began his professional career at a national healthcare architectural firm. While at that firm, Larry focused on and excelled at medical planning and consulting, attaining skills that empowered them to become one of six stock holders and members of the Board of Directors. Because of his experience and knowledge, Larry is often asked to be instructors at local and national medical meetings such as MGMA, ASOA, AAOE (ophthalmology), AAOE (orthopedics), and GAOE. He has also authored or contributed to articles in medical journals such as Medical Economics, The Journal of Medical Practice Management, Practical Dermatology, Practical Neurology, Spine Biz and Beyond, and have hosted podcasts and listservs on the topics of practice flow and efficiencies.

Searching for a unique balance of professional and family life Larry co-founded Practice Flow Solutions. The mission at Practice Flow Solutions is to make a positive difference in the lives of doctors, staff and patients. They accomplish this by inspiring, organizing and creating efficient healthcare environments through the efforts of caring, dedicated people.
